Take a Microdose Mushroom Walk: Try Something New

Last updated: June 2026
This guide is regularly updated with the latest insights on microdosing and nature.

There are countless ways to mark the seasons and holidays like Halloween: costumes, decorations, pumpkins. But perhaps you feel the call to do something different, something that brings meaning, introspection and a new perspective. If so, we have an original suggestion for you.

A microdose mushroom walk

A microdose mushroom walk in nature

Taking a walk has countless benefits, especially a longer walk in nature. It supports circulation, your energy levels and fitness, but it also calms the mind and improves your mood. Walking releases endorphins, which help reduce stress and boost your sense of well-being. Being in nature helps clear your head.

Did you know the birth of EMDR therapy was inspired by walking? Its founder, Dr Francine Shapiro, discovered the positive effects of eye movement during walking, which helped her process difficult events. As we walk outside, our eyes naturally scan the environment, left and right, and that very eye movement can help process emotions. That partly explains why walking often feels so therapeutic.

Microdosing psychedelic mushrooms

Just like walking, microdosing psilocybin mushrooms or truffles comes with a set of potential benefits. Research suggests microdosing may support creativity by helping the brain think 'out of the box'. Many people report more creativity and open-mindedness, less negative thinking and a more positive attitude to life. By combining a walk with a microdose, you unite the benefits of walking with those of microdosing. You might experience one of the most inspiring walks of your life.

Tip: A microdose is so small (about a tenth of a normal dose) that you don't experience psychedelic effects. Start low, know your product and walk a calm, familiar route. In the Netherlands, truffles and grow kits are legal; mushrooms are not.

Cleanse your home during the walk

Before you leave, you can air out your home and smudge some sage in every room to cleanse it and let in fresh energy. If possible, leave your windows ajar so it really ventilates. On returning from your walk, it feels extra refreshing to walk into a clean, fresh home.

Frequently asked questions about a microdose mushroom walk

What is a microdose mushroom walk?

It's a calm walk in nature combined with a microdose of psilocybin (truffles). You combine the calming, mood-lifting effect of walking with the subtle benefits of microdosing.

Do you feel a microdose while walking?

No, a microdose is so small that you don't experience psychedelic effects. People report more of a subtle shift: more calm, focus, creativity or an open outlook.

Is this legal in the Netherlands?

Microdosing with magic truffles is legal in the Netherlands; mushrooms are not. Know the rules where you live and walk a safe, calm route.

How much is a microdose?

About a tenth of a normal dose. Always start low and see how your body responds. Read more in our microdosing guide.

Why is walking so calming?

Walking releases endorphins, and the natural eye movements help, like with EMDR, to process emotions. Being in nature also clears your head.

When is the best time to do this?

On a calm day with good weather and enough time, on a familiar route. Don't plan anything heavy afterwards, so you can let the walk gently settle.
