A metal grinder made from aluminium or zinc alloy is the most durable and grinds the finest thanks to sharp diamond-shaped teeth. An acrylic grinder is lightweight, affordable and ideal for travel. For daily use we recommend a 4-piece metal grinder with pollen filter.
A 2-piece grinder is simple and effective for direct use. A 4-piece grinder has an extra collection chamber with a fine mesh pollen filter (often 100-120 micron) that separately collects kief — the resin-rich trichomes. Most experienced users choose 4 pieces for the kief collection benefit.
Soak metal grinders for 30 minutes in isopropyl alcohol (90%+) and brush away residue with an old toothbrush. Freeze your grinder for an hour first to loosen stuck material — this makes cleaning much more effective. Acrylic grinders can be cleaned with warm water and a drop of dish soap.
