Erythrina Mulungu Bark from Brazil
Mulungu comes from the Erythrina mulungu tree in Brazil. The bark of this tree is traditionally used as a natural sedative. In Brazil, people regularly take it as tea before going to sleep.
The herb has a mild, woody taste. The relaxing effect comes on gradually - this is not a heavy sedative but rather a gentle calming agent. Many users report that they fall asleep better and sleep more deeply after using mulungu.

Use and Dosage
As tea: use 2-3 grams per cup, let steep 10-15 minutes. Drink an hour before sleep. For capsules: fill empty capsules with about 500mg per capsule, take 2-3 capsules. Use preferably in the evening due to the relaxing effect. Do not combine with alcohol or sleeping pills.

How does mulungu work as a natural sleep aid?
Mulungu contains erythravine and other alkaloids that act on the GABA system in your brain, the same system that valerian targets. The difference is that mulungu also has anxiety-reducing properties, making it particularly suitable for people who cannot fall asleep due to racing thoughts. How does mulungu compare to valerian for sleep support?
Mulungu and valerian both promote relaxation but through slightly different pathways. Valerian is more strongly sedative and may still have a mild lingering effect the next morning. Mulungu has a broader range of action: it calms and simultaneously reduces anxiety, making it more effective for sleep problems caused by stress or tension. Valerian has a strong, musky smell that some people find unpleasant, while mulungu has a milder, woody taste. Both herbs can be combined for an enhanced effect when needed.
How long can you safely use mulungu daily?
In Brazil, mulungu is traditionally used in cycles of 4-6 weeks, followed by a break of at least one week. This prevents habituation and maintains effectiveness. With prolonged daily use without breaks, the relaxing effect may diminish. Do not use it for more than 8 consecutive weeks. Very easy to use but take your time to make it happen. First of all the right intentions and music. Use full moon new moon or copper bottle water and let it boil with enough Mulungu it’s all about the right color of the water. I use some Syrian rue extra about 2gr on 1 1/2 L and about 5 to 6 gr of Mulungu put it on the stove and boiling it softly with some top on your pan at least for half an hour with some lime or citron juice. At the end some sweetnesses like honey. Let it cool off and drink it when you wanted to release tension and later on going to sleep ?❤️?% Dromi dushi ????✌️
