The SL-100 from On Balance is our best-selling scale, and that's not without reason. This compact scale combines precision with ease of use in a format you can easily take with you. With a capacity of 100 grams and 0.01 gram accuracy, you can weigh almost anything precisely - from small amounts of herbs to supplements and extracts.
On Balance has been known for years for their reliable scales used by professionals and individuals worldwide. The SL-100 is one of their classics: robust enough for daily use, yet compact enough to slip in your pocket or bag. The protective flip cover prevents scratches on the weighing platform and simultaneously serves as a tray for your product.

With 0.01 gram accuracy, you measure to the centigram precisely. This is essential with potent herbs, extracts or supplements where small differences in dosage matter. The scale calibrates quickly and stays stable - no drifting measurements or jumps in the display.

The tare function lets you first place a tray, then zero out, and subsequently see only the net weight of your product. The protective flip cover works perfectly as a weighing tray and protects the scale when not in use. Auto shut-off ensures your batteries don't drain if you forget to turn off the scale.
Use and Maintenance
First use: Insert the batteries, place the scale on a flat surface, and let it stabilize. Calibration is usually not necessary but can be done if desired with the included calibration weight (sold separately).
Weighing: Turn on the scale, wait until 0.00 appears, and place your product. For net weighing: place tray, press TARE until 0.00, and add your product. Switch between weighing units with the MODE button.
Cleaning: Wipe the platform with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Don't use harsh cleaning agents. The protective cover can be cleaned with soap and water.
Batteries: The scale gives a warning when batteries are almost empty. Replace both AAA batteries simultaneously for optimal performance.

Is the On Balance SL-100 suitable for weighing microdoses?
The SL-100 is an excellent choice for microdosing thanks to its 0.01 gram accuracy. This means you can reliably weigh portions of, for example, 0.10 to 0.30 grams, which falls within the common range for microdoses. The tare function is particularly useful here: first place a small weighing tray or piece of paper, press TARE, then weigh only your product. For doses below 0.05 grams, deviations may be slightly larger, so keep this in mind with very low dosages.
Which On Balance scale best suits my needs?
The choice depends on how much you want to weigh at once. The SL-100 (100g capacity) is ideal as a pocket scale for small to medium quantities and fits easily in your trouser pocket. The Truweigh (200g) offers more capacity with a larger weighing platform, handy if you regularly weigh slightly larger portions. The Envy NV-500 (500g) is the best choice if you want to divide bulk quantities into portions. All three models offer the same 0.01 gram precision.
How do you calibrate the On Balance SL-100 scale?
The SL-100 comes factory-calibrated and normally does not need recalibration. Should you doubt its accuracy, you can recalibrate the scale with a 100 gram calibration weight (sold separately). Turn on the scale, wait until the display is stable at 0.00, and follow the calibration procedure in the manual. Preferably calibrate at room temperature and on a vibration-free surface for the most accurate result.
