Ecuadorian Raw Cacao

Our Ecuadorian Raw Cacao comes from a cooperation with Conexión Chocolate. The Cacao for our 500g and 1000g blocks comes from various smallholder cooperatives in the Ecuadorian provinces of Los Ríos, Manabí, and Esmeraldas. Conexión supports around 2000 smallholders there, on the one hand by exchanging knowledge and on the other hand through training in organic Cacao cultivation, which creates a sustainable livelihood for the families.

The complete production of Cacao products on site, from the cacao harvest - to the table, also enables maximum profit for all small farmers involved. In Los Ríos, for example, the cocoa trees grow in a natural, mixed culture together with other hardwoods and tropical fruit trees and provide a home for over 72 species of birds. Ideal conditions for the flavor development of the Arriba Nacional, which is known for its fine aroma profile. Conexión Chocolate is committed to the preservation of the Arriba Nacional and cooperates with the Heirloom Cacao Preservation which has dedicated itself to the protection of rare Cacao species!
