Our Own Kratom Factory in Indonesia: From Plantation to Powder

Last updated: June 2026
This article is regularly reviewed with the latest insights on our kratom production.

We are immensely proud to produce our own kratom. This way we safeguard quality and purity from start to finish, while at the same time making a valuable contribution to the local farming community in Indonesia. In this blog we take you along our plantations and factory, from the leaf on the tree to the finished powder.

Where Does Our Kratom Come From?

The leaves come from community plantations around the town of Jongkong–Putussibau, a green zone in the Sentarum Lake National Park. The rich alluvial soil makes this area exceptionally fertile and perfectly suited to Mitragyna speciosa, the kratom tree. This tropical tree thrives in a warm, humid climate and can grow over 18 metres tall and more than 4.5 metres wide. A kratom tree is on average around 6 to 15 years old before it is ready to harvest.

How Is It Harvested?

Harvesting calls for careful observation and a sense of timing. It is done by hand, from seven in the morning until one in the afternoon, picking only the older leaves. We work exclusively with good friends who, as partners, oversee the growing process on site and harvest and dry the leaves with care once the time is right.

Over the tree's life the leaf changes: the colour of the stems and leaf veins shifts from white to green or red. That colour partly determines which kratom variety results. You can read more about those differences in our blog kratom colours explained. Our trees are never cut down or damaged; sometimes we prune them instead, so they grow wide rather than tall. That regenerates the leaf and makes harvesting much easier.

As the leaf matures, the natural balance between kratom's two main alkaloids, mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, also shifts. By harvesting at the right moment, we steer towards a consistent profile, harvest after harvest.

Sustainable Harvesting

To keep the plantation healthy, we harvest only twice a month and in rotation. At the start of the month we harvest in Area A; at the end of the month in Area B. This gives each area time to regenerate naturally and prevents us from overburdening the soil and the trees. Not everything at once, but at a calm, considered pace, that is the idea.

From Leaf to Powder

Once the leaves are harvested, sorted and approved, they are dried. Depending on the drying time and method, indoors or outdoors, different varieties emerge. We then grind the dried leaves into a fine powder, using clean, high-quality equipment and strict hygiene.

Each batch from our factory is then checked in a test laboratory for impurities and for the concentration of active compounds. That way we are sure we deliver exactly the quality we have in mind. Only once the powder has been grown, harvested, dried, ground, tested, packaged and labelled is our work done, and can we rightly say a great deal of care has gone into it.

Our Farmers

Each year we visit the factory ourselves to check the quality and improve it where needed. We look after our farmers well, and in return they look after our kratom. They receive ongoing guidance and coaching and are deeply committed to maintaining the highest quality. They know better than anyone: with poor leaf, no one buys their harvest. So they give it their all, to provide for their families and send their children to school.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Kratom

Where does your kratom come from?

From community plantations around Jongkong–Putussibau, in the Sentarum Lake National Park in Indonesia. The rich alluvial soil makes this area particularly suited to the kratom tree, Mitragyna speciosa.

What is Mitragyna speciosa?

Mitragyna speciosa is the botanical name of the kratom tree: a tropical tree that can grow over 18 metres tall and thrives in a warm, humid climate. Its leaves are processed into kratom powder.

How do you harvest sustainably?

We harvest by hand, only twice a month and in rotation between two areas, so the soil and trees can recover. The trees are never cut down, only pruned to regenerate the leaf.

What is the difference between red, green, white and yellow kratom?

The distinction lies mainly in the colour of the leaf veins and in the harvest and drying moment. For a full explanation, read our blog kratom colours explained.

Is your kratom tested?

Yes. Each batch from our factory is checked in a test laboratory for impurities and for the concentration of active compounds, so quality stays consistent.

How is kratom offered by you?

Kratom is not approved as a Novel Food and is offered by us as a botanical product, not for consumption. We focus on origin, production, types and quality.
