In the valleys of Patagonia, more than 100,000 tons of fruit pulp were left over annually from juice production. José de Biot came up with a way to turn this 'waste' into the base for incense.

By using fruit pulp instead of charcoal, fewer trees need to be cut down. At the same time, it reduces food waste. The fruit pulp has no scent itself, but ensures the incense burns more evenly and the herbs and resins come through better.

Active reforestation efforts

Every rainy season, the Sagrada Madre team travels to Peru to plant Palo Santo trees together with local communities. They plant more trees than they use for their products. In their latest action, they planted 150 young trees on Cerro La Cruz.

Their reforestation projects focus on native tree species that naturally belong in those areas. This helps not just the trees, but the entire ecosystem to recover. Besides Peru, they also support reforestation projects in other countries.

Education and community projects

In El Soberbio, Misiones, Sagrada Madre works with rural schools. They teach children about sustainable agriculture, organize workshops on natural juices and help set up school gardens. By educating children in sustainability, they're investing in the future.

Support for animals and charities

Sagrada Madre supports various animal sanctuaries in Argentina. Hogar de lxs Libre has rescued more than 250 animals from factory farming. Santuario Salvajes has already helped 430 animals. The company believes all living beings deserve respect.

They also support organizations that help people, like Luz de Esperanza which focuses on job integration for people with addiction problems. And every Thursday, Amigues por las Calles distributes plant-based meals to people in difficult circumstances.
