Diplopterys cabrerana, a vine native to the Amazon region, is known in Quechua languages as both 'Chagropanga' and 'Chaliponga'. It is also called Banisteriopsis rusbyana and Banisteriopsis cabrerana and is, like Banisteriopsis caapi, a member of the Malpighiaceae family.

Psychotria viridis, also known as chacruna or chacrona, from the Quechuan verb "to mix". This name probably refers to the traditional use of psychotria viridis. Main active biochemicals: tryptamine alkaloid N, N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) and beta-carbolines.

Banisteriopsis caapi, also called caapi or yagé, is a South American vine of the Malpighiaceae family. It is used to prepare an incense, a decoction with a long history of entheogenic use as a medicine and "plant teacher" among the indigenous peoples of the Amazon rainforest. It contains harmine, harmaline, and tetrahydroharmine, which are all bothbeta-carboline harmala alkaloids and MAOIs.
