In this way, the sclerotia can survive extreme environmental circumstances. The Magic Truffles are from the psilocybe mushroom mycelium. In the lab, the environmental conditions are altered in such a way that it's not optimal for the mushrooms. This results in the formation of the Sclerotia underground. So it is a fungus growing underground! Both Magic Mushrooms and Magic Truffles are part of one organism that produces the psychoactive substances psilocybin and psilocin.
