The Enigma is not your ordinary mushroom. This remarkable mutation originated from Tidal Wave Cubensis and stands apart through its completely unique growth pattern. While traditional magic mushrooms develop with a stem and cap, the Enigma forms into a dense, blob-like mass resembling brain tissue or coral structures. This distinctive appearance comes paired with an exceptionally high psilocybin concentration.

What makes the Enigma truly rare: this variety cannot reproduce through spores. The mushrooms never form caps and therefore produce no spores at all. Each new Enigma grow kit must be created through tissue cloning from existing specimens. This makes the Enigma a genuine collector's item among experienced cultivators.

Growing Instructions

The Enigma requires a different approach than standard Cubensis varieties. This kit is completely ready-to-grow and needs no preparatory steps such as soaking or poking holes. The substrate is already optimally hydrated and fully colonised.

Step by Step

1. Unpack: Remove the grow kit from its packaging and allow it to reach room temperature if you have stored it refrigerated.
2. Prepare the grow bag: Pour approximately 150 ml of clean, lukewarm tap water into the grow bag (beside the kit, not onto the substrate).
3. Position: Place the grow box inside the grow bag. Lightly mist the inside walls of the bag with water for added humidity.
4. Seal: Fold the top of the grow bag over twice and secure it with the included paperclips.
5. Location: Place the kit in a bright spot away from direct sunlight, at a temperature between 20-25°C.
6. Initial phase: Keep the bag closed until you see the first signs of growth (pre-pins or early blob formation). During this phase, the kit needs a high CO₂ level.
7. Maintenance after first growth: Once the first growth becomes visible, open the bag briefly each day to allow fresh air in. Push the sides of the bag together to force out stale air, then pull them apart again to draw in fresh air. At the same time, lightly mist the inside walls of the bag with clean water (1-2 sprays) to maintain humidity. Never spray directly onto the mushrooms.
8. Patience: The Enigma needs 7-9 weeks to fully develop. This is considerably longer than regular Cubensis kits, but is simply the nature of this mutation.

Temperature Tip

Temperatures below 20°C will significantly slow growth or stop it entirely. A heat mat can help maintain stable temperatures, particularly in cooler rooms. Ensure adequate distance between the mat and the kit to prevent overheating.

Harvesting

Determining harvest time for the Enigma differs from traditional mushrooms. Since there are no caps, there is no 'veil' breaking open to signal readiness. Instead, watch for these indicators:

When is the Enigma Ready to Harvest?

• Colour change: The colour shifts from bright white to creamy or light golden
• Blue/green edges: The tips of the blob structures develop a bluish or greenish discolouration - this is the most important signal
• Texture: The tissue feels firmer than before
• Growth stops: Development visibly slows or halts completely

The ideal harvest window typically falls 3-5 days after blob formation appears complete and growth has stagnated. Do not wait too long: larger clusters may begin softening from the inside, which reduces quality.

How to Harvest

Use a sharp, clean scalpel or knife. Avoid twisting or pulling - this damages the substrate and may compromise future flushes. The Enigma mass forms a dense, compact cluster that spreads across the substrate. Use controlled cutting motions to remove the blob structures without damaging the underlying mycelium layer.

Remove all structures, including smaller ones. It is normal for some tissue to remain on the substrate - you can carefully cut this away after harvesting.

Second Flush

A second flush is possible after the first harvest. Unlike the initial grow, you will now need to soak the kit:

1. Remove all remaining tissue residue from the substrate
2. Fill the grow box with clean, lukewarm water and replace the lid
3. Place the kit in the refrigerator for 8-12 hours
4. Pour off the excess water and continue from step 2 of the growing instructions

The yield from a second flush is typically more modest than the first.

Storage

Grow kit: The unopened kit keeps for 1 to 2 months in the refrigerator (2-8°C). For best results, however, start as soon as possible after receiving your kit.

Fresh mushrooms: Store your harvest for a maximum of one week in the refrigerator in a paper bag or on kitchen paper. Avoid plastic - it traps moisture and accelerates spoilage.

Dried mushrooms: Fully dried Enigmas will keep for months when stored in an airtight container away from light. A silica gel packet helps absorb any remaining moisture.

Responsible Use

The extraordinary potency of the Enigma demands a cautious approach. Start with a very small amount to learn how it affects you - this variety is noticeably stronger than standard Cubensis strains. Ensure you are in a trusted, comfortable environment with a sober trip sitter, especially for your first experience. Never combine with alcohol, medication or other psychoactive substances.
