What is Guayusa?

It is a plant that grows in the Amazon region in South America. It grows in Ecuador, Peru and Columbia. The common way to use it is to make tea out of it. The leaves are brewed for a while to make tea out of it. Guayusa is high in antioxidants and caffeine what will give you a nice boost. It does contain more caffeine than coffee but it is said that it gives you a stimulant effect will last longer without the buzzing effect of coffee. This will help you stay focused and calm.

Next to that it is also said that Guayusa is also called “the watchmans plant” that will keep your “eyes open in the night” and that’s why it is so helpful for lucid dreaming.The Guayusa has a pleasant taste that will make it easy to drink hot and cold. It’s smoothe and you can even call it almost sweet. So there is no need to add other sugary products.

 Guayusa Tea

It is quite easy to brew Guayusa tea. There are different ways to brew it. You can use a french press, put it in a cup and sieve it or use a teastrainer.

For all useages you can use one-two teaspoons of the leaves per cup of tea. Boil some water and then pour the water over the leaves and let it brew for 6-15 minutes depending on how strong you want your tea. Also good to know that Guayusa wont get bitter. It is said that the leaves retain their strength, so you can use it up to 3-4 times.
