Meranti is a tropical hardwood that grows in Indonesia. It has a reddish-brown color and is a bit heavier than bamboo but also even stronger. This kuripe is carved from a single piece of Meranti, not from two parts glued together.
Carving from a single block takes more time and material. You start with a larger piece of wood and remove everything unnecessary until only the kuripe remains. The inside is drilled and then sanded until the channels are smooth. The result is a kuripe that lasts for years, even with daily use.

Use and Care
Use like any kuripe: fill, place, blow through. Rinse after use with cold or lukewarm water. Meranti can handle more than bamboo, but avoid prolonged soaking anyway. Dry well before storage. The wood may darken somewhat over time from use - this is normal and doesn't affect function.
