Kuntanawa Rapé Container in Grey - Handmade Pottery

The grey version has a dark grey to black clay covering over the entire container. What immediately stands out is the green crystal below the lid - usually jade or a similar stone, round-cut and set in the middle of leaf motifs. The leaves seem to grow around the crystal, with veins and texture that create depth. It's not flat decoration but three-dimensional shaping.

Key Features: Bamboo base fully covered with clay. Dark grey to black color. Green crystal set below the lid (jade or similar). Leaf motifs around crystal. Ribbed gold/orange middle. Triangle patterns at bottom in natural bamboo colors. Handmade by Tete Pawã. Height about 12-14cm.

The middle section has golden/orange ribbed rings - clay mixed with warm pigments that contrast with the grey above and light bamboo below. The bottom part shows geometric triangles carved in lighter clay, almost the color of natural bamboo. These color layers are deliberately chosen: dark for mystery at the top, warm in the middle, light as grounding at the bottom.

The Green Crystal

The set stone isn't a random addition. Jade is valued in many cultures for its spiritual properties. It sits fixed in the clay, surrounded by leaves that embrace it. The crystal catches light and draws attention to the lid. Practically speaking, it serves as a grip - your fingers find the crystal when you want to open the lid. But mainly it's a focal point, a place where your eye is drawn.

Why Different Colors?

✧ Pigments from Nature

The Tete Pawã uses natural pigments: charcoal for black and grey, plant extracts for green, minerals for gold and orange. Each batch of clay takes up pigments slightly differently, which means no two containers have exactly the same color. This container can vary from anthracite to medium grey.

✧ Symbolism of Colors

In Kuntanawa tradition, grey/black has connection with night, mystery, and protection. The golden middle symbolizes transformation and energy. The light bottom part anchors the container in the earth. These aren't random choices but meaningful color combinations.

Use and Care

Unscrew the lid from the container. Fill with your chosen powder, place the lid back. The crystal is securely attached but avoid hard impacts on it. Dust off with dry cloth. For dirt: lightly damp cloth, dry immediately. Don't soak or hold under tap. Store in dry place out of sunlight.

Which gemstone is incorporated in the grey Kuntanawa container?

The grey version has a green crystal below the lid, usually jade or a similar stone. The crystal is round-cut and set in the centre of leaf motifs. It serves as a focal point and provides practical grip for opening the lid. The stone sits firmly in the clay.

Why choose the grey version over the sage green?

The grey version has a mysterious, protective character with dark colours and a striking green crystal. The sage green is lighter and more open in appearance. In Kuntanawa tradition, grey and black symbolise protection and night, while green represents growth. Choose based on which energy appeals to you. How do you protect the clay decoration of this container?

Avoid hard impacts and do not soak the container in water. For dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately afterwards. The crystal is firmly attached but avoid hitting it directly. Store dry and out of sunlight to prevent discolouration of the natural pigments.
