Ayurveda
Ayurveda, the traditional system of medicine practiced in India, dates back to 6000 BC (Charak Samhita, 1949). For most of these 6000 years, Ashwagandha has been used as a Rasayana. Rasayana is a term that in early Ayurvedic medicine means the science of prolonging the life span. The root of Ashwagandha is considered to be a tonic, aphrodisiac, narcotic, diuretic, anthelmintic, astringent, thermogenic, and stimulant. The root smells like a horse ("ashwa"), which is why it is also called Ashwagandha (when consumed, it gives the strength of a horse).
How to use Ashwagandha Extract
For a calming effect, place 3-5 drops under the tongue. Use 5 to 15 drops under the tongue for a good relaxation.
