San Pedro (Echinopsis Pachanoi)
The San Pedro cactus (Echinopsis pachanoi), is the oldest known magic plant in South America. Originally, it originates from Ecuador and Peru, where the cactus still grows on the highlands.
The cactus has 4 to 9 ribs, grows fast and has a strong root system. The San Pedro cactus grows just as long until it falls under its own weight. Then he falls around and the fallen cactus will root in nature and produce many foals. The cactus grows under dry as well as humid conditions, however, it grows fast when it regularly gets water. However, the cactus can survive without water for years and even create new side shoots.
The San Pedro contains the alkaloid Mescaline as a psychoactive ingredient. Mescaline has a strong hallucinogenic effect and causes hallucinations in a Mescaline trip. Indian Curanderos (Shamans) use the Trichocereus pachanoi Cactus to cure all diseases.
Effects
San Pedro allows you to dream consciously and to walk through your own fantasy world. It gives a strong trip with spiritual colorful visions.
A trip takes 6 to 12 hours. The San Pedro gives a less threatening and overwhelming trip than Peyote, the trip starts slowly but steadily mostly without too much nausea.
The active substances in the San Pedro cactus are mescaline (3,4,5-trimethoxy-B-phenethylamine), tyramine, hordinenin, 3-methoxy-4-hydroxy-B-phenethylamine and 3,5-dimethoxy-4-hydroxy- B-phenethylamine.
